Guest speakers
The conference heard from two stimulating guest speakers - Dr Shakuntala Banaji, Lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Steve Beswick, Director of Education for Microsoft UK.
Dr Shakuntala Banaji spoke about the international research she has been conducting on 'Clicktivism or Active Participation? Young People, Democracy and the Internet'. She highlighted some of the generalisations that we make about young people's attitudes towards new technology and the internet, and challenged this through her research, which shows a full range of attitudes from complete engagement to total apathy.
