Five Nations Development projects (FNDPs)

These projects were funded by the Five Nations and were presented at the 2020 conference in Belfast.

Project Name: Plastic Pollution... We are the Solution!
​Project Lead: Katie Shearer, Principal Teacher, St. Eunan's Primary School

Project Overview and Aims:
-To develop in pupils an awareness of environmental issues both locally and globally.
 -To enable pupils to think critically, discuss and debate the issues around pollution, environmental issues and stewardship.
-To empower pupils, equipping them with the skills to become Stewards of the World.
-To enable pupils to become active citizens in their local community.
-To nurture political literacy in pupils.
-To increase self confidence in pupils and their sense of being able to contribute positively in their community and wider society.

​Project Lead: Martin Ferguson, Head of English, Ashfield Girl's School

​Overall Aim:
To embed deliberative talk and oracy in English lessons in order to discuss citizenship issues. For example: ‘How can we tackle racism and discrimination in a contemporary context?’
